Trailer Loans for Tradies
For a tradie, a good trailer is part of the toolkit. Here's how to finance one the smart way.
Put it through the business
If the trailer is mainly for work, finance it through your ABN. It keeps your business and personal finances clean, and if you're registered for GST, a business loan structure can let you claim the GST on the purchase. Your accountant can confirm what applies to you.
What lenders want from a tradie
- Your ABN and how long it's been active
- Recent business bank statements
- Tax returns, or BAS for a low doc application
- Your trade licence or qualifications can help, especially for newer ABNs
Want to talk it through? Send a free enquiry and we'll pass it to a broker who does trailer loans every day. Enquiring doesn't affect your credit score.
Newer tradies
If you've recently gone out on your own after years as an employee in the same trade, some lenders will take that experience into account. A deposit and clean credit file help. See new ABN trailer loans.
Bundle where it makes sense
Buying a ute and trailer together? Some lenders will finance both in one deal. It's often simpler than two loans, especially for a smaller trailer that's below some lenders' minimum loan size.
Choose the trailer for the work
Think about security for tools, weather protection and how you'll load gear. A tradie trailer that's easy to lock up can also help with insurance. Check your ute's towing limits against the loaded trailer.
