Financing a Camper Trailer
Camper trailers are one of the most popular things Australians finance for the family. If it's for holidays, it's a consumer loan in your own name, assessed on your income, expenses and credit history, with the camper as security.
New campers from established brands are the easiest to fund, often over five to seven years. Two-to-five-year-old campers are a sweet spot for value and are widely financed too. Imported or one-off builds can be harder for lenders to value, so a deposit may be needed.
The biggest surprise for first-time buyers is the extra cost: rego, insurance, a brake controller and sometimes upgrades to the tow vehicle. Add those up before you settle on a loan amount.
